Sudridh-NURP supports strengthening municipal capacities to best create an enabling environment for green, resilient and inclusive local-level planning, investments and governance. Our focus is on formulating and implementing GRID-sensitive policies and processes, enhancing the financial capacity of municipalities to support GRID projects.
Based on the conclusions drawn from reviewing existing policies and regulations coupled with municipal GRID priorities, NURP developed a Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) template, tools and processes for all municipalities aimed at facilitating yearly planning and budgeting.
NURP ensures that Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) is integrated and mainstreamed in every municipal activity. A GESI Policy has been drafted for Butwal and Pokhara while a GESI Strategy has been developed for Janakpur. These documents act as a guiding document for the target municipalities to mainstream GESI in all their policies, strategies, laws, plans, programmes and budgets, as well as to strengthen institutional mechanisms and ensure accountability in efficiently enforcing GESI policies and strategies.
